Air India Signals New Era with Rebrand

-

Tata Group, the parent company of Air India, officially announced a rebrand of Air India, beginning with a new logo and plane livery. The rebrand comprises part of a multimillion-dollar transformation. By 2024 the airline will see all of its widebody planes refurbished with new livery.

The redesign is thanks to the airline’s partnership with FutureBrand. As early as this December, Air India’s first Airbus A350 enters the fleet in the new livery. The airline plans to acquire 470 new aircraft starting this November. Earlier this year, the airline leased and bought 20 wide-body aircraft. The refurbishment program will see the installation of new seats in every cabin, inflight WiFi connectivity and new inflight entertainment systems.

Air India is currently investing in building new lounges at Delhi and John F. Kennedy International airports. Recently the airline achieved 100 percent lounge access coverage for premium customers at all destinations across its international route network.

Other updates under Air India include a new website and mobile app, providing customers with an improved web experience. By the end of this year, Air India will launch a new “Open all hours, every day” customer contact center in nine Indian and foreign languages, as well as a completely redesigned loyalty program by early 2024.

Corendon Airlines Adds Adults-Only Zone

Turkish carrier Corendon Airlines recently unveiled plans to sell an adults-only section on 10-hour flights between Amsterdam (AMS) and Curaçao (CUR) beginning this November. No passengers under the age of 16 are allowed in this specific section of the plane.

Corendon Airlines hopes to provide passengers traveling without children a quiet space, as well as passengers with children the space to travel without fear their crying kids might upset fellow passengers.

To accomplish this industry-first move, Corendon will allocate 93 regular seats and nine extra-legroom seats in the adult zone in the front of its Airbus A350 aircraft. A wall or curtain separates the section. Passengers looking to book a seat in this adults-only section will pay an extra $49 for a regular seat and $109 for an extra-legroom seat.

While Corendon Airlines is the first to institute an adults-only zone for passengers ages 16 and up, other airlines like Scoot,

3 at Los Angeles International Airport recently finished a whopping 18 months ahead of schedule. The new Delta Skyway includes various upgrades such as touch-free baggage kiosks and a centralized check-in lobby. Touch-free checked bag kiosks use facial recognition technology for a hands-free experience.

The project, lasting several years, unveiled the final result Aug. 30 and included the combining of terminals 2 and 3 for a more seamless travel experience. The connection between Terminal 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal also eliminates the need for busing between the two.
