10 THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT

JAMIE LEE CURTIS

-

AMIE LEE CURTIS returns to her scream queen roots this month by reprising the role of Laurie Strode in 2018’s Halloween — the last chapter of the horror franchise that launched her career 40 years ago. Here are ten things you don’t know about Jamie, who’ll turn 60 on Nov. 22.

JFriends of her Psycho star mom, Janet Leigh, encouraged

Jamie to audition for the lead in The Exorcist, but her mother forbid it.

She appeared in the short-lived 1977 series Operation Petticoat, which was based on the 1959 film of the same name that starred her father, Tony Curtis.

Though she’s close friends with Sigourney Weaver, Jamie admits she’s too scared to watch her pal’s sci-fi film Alien.

In 1987, she filed the first of her multiple patents for disposable diapers.

She says her Trading Places co-star Dan Aykroyd is the best on-screen kisser ever.

Her British-American husband, Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest, inherited the Barony of Haden-Guest in 1996, making her a baroness with the title Lady Haden-Guest.

A former boozer and cocaine addict, Curtis says she was also hooked on painkillers but got totally sober in 1999. She calls it the greatest achievement of her life.

She’s written more than a dozen children’s books.

She washes her own car and reasons, “Why have other people do it while I sit on a bench watching them?”

Wed for 34 years to Guest, she says the secret to a long marriage is: “Don’t leave. There’s a recovery phrase that says, ‘Stay on the bus … the scenery will change.’”
