But pals fear O’Donnell’s 3rd marriage is doomed

LOVESTRUCK Rosie O’Donnell is champing at the bit to walk down the aisle a third time with red-hot cop Elizabeth Rooney, but the arresting officer is dragging her feet on their living arrangements, say sources.

Following the funnygal’s two disastrous marriages, the 56-year-old comedienne and the law lady became engaged in a secret summer proposal. Motormouth Rosie is eager to make the 33-year-old her third wife, but “Elizabeth is committed to being a police officer in Worcester, Mass., says a source. “She’s not going anywhere.

“Elizabeth’s met Rosie’s kids, and Rosie’s met her grandmother. But Elizabeth is not a celebrity and wants to keep things quiet and normal.”

However, Rosie’s life is a study in controversy, sources say.

“It’s no secret Rosie isn’t the easiest person to get along with,” says an insider close to the comic.

Her stormy marriages to Kelli Carpenter and Michelle Rounds ended in divorce, and she left ABC’s gabfest The View twice after clashing with co-hosts.

The roly-poly mom of five was also blasted by critics when Michelle, 46, died by suicide after an ugly breakup.

At the time, Rosie had hooked up with married actress Dana Caruso Schiff, leaving ex-wife Michelle devastated and believing Rosie had “replaced” her as the mother of their adopted daughter, Dakota, now 5.

“Michelle feared Dakota would grow up to suffer the same kinds of problems the rest of Rosie’s kids seemed to have,” says a source, who notes the star has publicly feuded with another adopted daughter, 21-year-old Chelsea.

Now, Rosie, who lives in a New York suburb, has got her sights set on Elizabeth, but the policewoman is in no rush to tie the knot, insiders say.

“It’s hard to say when they will marry,” notes the source. “Elizabeth has a lot to figure out.”
