Paramedics rush to rescue game show king

BOB BARKER cheated death when paramedics rushed to his Los Angeles home for a harrowing “medical emergency!”

Ambulances swarmed the 94-year-old TV icon’s home on Oct. 9 — and authorities announced they were conducting a death investigation.

But after several agonizing hours, The Price Is Right host was given the all-clear.

“It turned out not to be a death. It was a medical emergency only,” says an LAPD spokesman.

Bob’s business manager, William Prappas, confirmed rescue workers had been called, but insisted the daytime legend was “OK.”

“Everyone’s praying for Bob, but his health is deteriorating rapidly. We fear his final curtain could come any day,” says a pal.

Bob has endured a slew of health problems over the years.

He’s suffered two strokes, recurring skin cancer and prostate cancer. He also has failing eyesight, arthritis and heart problems, and has taken two nasty falls that required hospitalization.

Sadly, the former game show great has become a virtual shut-in.

The emergency call came almost a year to the day after Bob broke down at the gravesite of his beloved wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon, at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills cemetery. She passed away in 1981.

Bob also cleaned her headstone during the 20-minute vigil.

He expects he’ll soon be laid beside her, insiders say. The longtime animal activist has already had a tombstone engraved with his name — and has even laid out plans for his funeral. “Bob’s not afraid. I think he can’t wait for the day when he and Dorothy will be reunited,” says his pal.
