Bride rebuilt her love after wreck erased all memory of her husband

IDO” has turned into “I don’t” for the real-life couple who inspired the four-hanky flick The Vow! After 25 years of marriage, Krickitt Carpenter and hubby Kim are getting divorced — over his cheating!

“Kim was having an affair,” a heartbroken Krickitt reveals. “I never thought that [this] is the road I would ever go down, because I made a vow for life.”

Just weeks after tying the knot in 1993, the couple were in a horrendous car crash on Thanksgiving Day.

Krickitt suffered severe brain trauma and was placed in a coma for 21 days.

When she woke up, she had no idea where she was or what had happened. Even more devastating, she had no memory of her new husband!

“Not only did she not remember that we were married, she didn’t even recognize me!” recalls Kim, who suffered broken ribs, a broken nose and lacerations in the accident.

“I was devastated, but I was just so glad she was alive.”

Eventually, Krickitt went to rehab — and Kim pushed her

“She hated the therapy, and she hated me for making her do it. She kept telling me, ‘I don’t know you, go back to where you came from.’ We really didn’t get along,” he says.

With counseling, the two rebuilt their relationship — going on dates, taking walks and just getting to know each other.

“Slowly and steadily, we created memories together, and everything else started to fall into place,” Krickitt says.

In 1996, they renewed their vows. Four years later, Krickitt gave birth to their son, Danny. Daughter Leann followed in 2003.

The couple’s story inspired the 2012 blockbuster The Vow, starring Rachel McAdams and

Channing Tatum.

But Krickitt recently discovered her husband

to their abrupt divorce!

“It was shocking and surprising because we were so committed to each other and to the vow,” she says.

Despite that, “I am thankful for the 25 years that I had. I have two amazing children and we had so many great times together,” she adds.

As for whether she still believes in love, Krickitt vows: “I do.”
