DROLL straight man BOB NEWHART briefly shared the bill with funnygal CAROL BURNETT in The Entertainers, which was produced by her then-husband, Joe Hamilton. The CBS comedy sketch show made its debut in 1964, but midway through its lone season, switched from Friday to Saturday night — and lost Newhart in the transition. But the comic legends would later return to the same network to headline their own series — her in 1967 with The Carol Burnett Show and him in 1972 with The Bob Newhart Show. Now 85, she’s recently helmed Netflix’s A Little Help with Carol Burnett, while 89-year-old Bob has had a recurring role on The Big Bang Theory.
