When they met on the Smokey and the Bandit set, their chemistry was “instantaneous and intense … we were the perfect match of flaws,” says the 72-year-old actress.

“We went together very well, but not necessarily for the right reasons.

“Burt was a man of his time [and] I couldn’t be myself.
