INSIDE THE QUEEN’S MARRIAGE!

Arrogant Philip talks down to wife who finds him ‘annoying’

-

QUEEN Elizabeth may rule Britain, but behind the scenes, the matronly monarch is treated like a brow-beaten housewife by her arrogant hubby, Prince Philip — who frequently humiliates her in public with snide put-downs!

After 71 years as a couple, the royals now live apart, with dying Philip, 97, spending his painful last days in the country as Elizabeth, 92, courageously continues her royal duties from Kensington Palace — and insiders suggest they’re better off apart!

Palace sources reveal Philip is as stiff and arrogant in private as he appears in public. He has no qualms lording his worldly cynicism and superior education over his relatively sheltered wife.

Despite the fact that Elizabeth wears the crown in the family, Philip keeps her in her place with cutting barbs.

Incredibly, the snooty prince even embarrassed his wife just five years after their marriage at her 1953 coronation when he took a shot at her fashion sense and sniped: “Where did you get that hat?”

A new book by society diarist Kenneth Rose, who died at 84 in 2014, reveals Philip called the queen stupid in front of a group of officials back in 1961.

According to Rose, Sir Austin Strutt, then Deputy UnderSecretary of the Home Office, claimed he and other bureaucrats were cruising in the Channel Islands aboard the royal yacht when the trip had to be cut short due to bad weather.

When Elizabeth couldn’t grasp the reason for the voyage change, former naval officer Philip shocked the group by chewing her out with the snide remark: “Haven’t you got the intelligence to understand?”

Strutt disliked the pompous prince to the point of predicting: “He will bring the whole monarchy down in ruins,” wrote Rose.

Philip even insulted Elizabeth’s Regent Street custom

shoemaker at a party, telling him the queen was “always complaining about her feet.”

But Elizabeth gives as good as she gets, a courtier reveals. Her Majesty admits she often finds her hubby “annoying,” the courtier says.

But that apparently doesn’t extend to the bedroom.

In her recently released book, The Queen’s Marriage, Lady Colin Campbell writes the royals’ steamy romp on their wedding night left servants tittering and “full of talk” about how the 21-yearold bride “enjoyed her introduction to the pleasures of the flesh.”

Philip also confided to a relative his royal wife “had a very healthy appetite sexually,” Campbell writes.

He also raunchily blabbed to a cousin she “had he most beautiful skin all over” and was “a goer” between the sheets.

Sources say some of Philip’s nasty attitude may be due to the fact that he’s had to accept deferring to his wife in public, even walking behind her, which he feels is a “challenge to his manhood.”

Still, in one rare moment, during a toast to his wife at a lunch for their golden wedding anniversary in 1997, Philip admitted his faults, saying that “tolerance is the one essential ingredient in any happy marriage ... You can take it from me, the queen has the quality of tolerance in abundance.”
