AUSSIE billionaire James Packer admits he was a screwed-up mess when he was engaged to diva Mariah Carey!
Their 18-month romance was “fun” at first, he says, and he popped the question with a 35-carat diamond sparkler in January 2016.
But then, a month later, James cracked up!
“I was in a bad, bad way,” he says in the new biography The Price of Fortune: The Untold Story of Being James Packer.
Struggling with depression, anxiety and a financial nightmare, “I thought to myself, ‘I don’t want to have $1.4 billion of debt anymore.’ ”
The couple split in October 2016, with Mariah, 49, reportedly receiving a $50 million “inconvenience fee.”
James, 51, said later: “Mariah was kind, exciting and fun. But it was a mistake for her and mistake for me.”
