QUINCY JONES’ HEROIN HELL!
MUSIC legend Quincy Jones confesses he got addicted to heroin as a teenager! The drug “had me hooked for five months at 15,” admits Quincy. At the time, Jones — who’s won 27 Grammy Awards — was playing trumpet at clubs in Seattle with Ray Charles. When a gig ended, the gang would play for free at “bebop jam sessions,” 85-year-old Quincy recalls. “The guys, when they finished playing, they’d go in the corner and they had [heroin] on their thumb. “Ray wouldn’t let me get in the corner … [but I] would sneak into the line and get a little hit.” His love affair with the drug ended when he plummeted down five flights of stairs while high. “If I hadn’t done that, I would’ve been a junkie forever,” says Quincy.
