ACTRESS Katie Holmes is caught in a cash crunch and willing to take parts in horror flicks to score paydays, sources say.
Once wed to movie moneybags Tom Cruise, “Katie needs cash to support her A-list lifestyle, even though she is really now a D-lister!” tattles a
blabbermouth. “She is willing to take the lowest of low Hollywood roles to avoid sinking into debt!”
While her rep insists Katie’s career is going strong, insiders predict the former Dawson’s Creek beauty, who once headlined a Batman movie blockbuster, will soon be starring in a tacky Sharknado made-for-TV film featuring has-beens!
In the years since she played Christian Bale’s leading lady in 2005’s Batman Begins, the fortunes of the 39-year-old mom of Cruise’s daughter Suri, 12, have taken a dramatic turn — she even took an uncredited role in the recent Sandra Bullock–Cate Blanchett caper flick Ocean’s 8, sources say.
Says the insider, “She is just not considered a red-hot commodity in fashion or film.”
Currently, Katie is starring in a sequel to the cheapie horror flick The Boy, a low-rent $10 million project.
Sadly, she’s used to an A-list lifestyle and is now scrambling to maintain her standard of living, insiders insist.
She has debts from her failed clothing line, Holmes & Yang, and her TV appearances have dwindled, notes a source.
Although Katie was wed to Cruise, who is worth $570 million, she got zero spousal support after their 2012 divorce thanks to a prenup and gets a mere $400,000 a year in child support.
Lawyers tell GLOBE that’s a crummy deal, considering Tom’s earnings and Katie’s mega expenses, from nannies and a posh private school to bicoastal living and five-star travel.
“Katie sometimes regrets not fighting for more cash from Tom, but she just wanted out,” notes the source.
Now she’s seeing comic actor Jamie Foxx but they keep money and housing separate, says the source, who claims the aging actress often “looks like a poor, middle-aged, single mom who can barely take care of herself!”
