GETS TRASHED!

Forced his sons to spend vacations picking up litter

-

INSTEAD of playing soccer or fun games with his young boys like other dads, goofy stick-in-themud Prince Charles made sons William and Harry pick up trash during a vacation in the countryside.

“He took us litter picking,” recalls William, now 36. “We’re there with our spikes, stabbing the rubbish into black plastic bags.

“Both of us thought, ‘This is perfectly normal. Everyone must do it.’”

While Charles’ behavior seems like rubbish, in public William defends his 70-yearold dad, who is a ferocious environmentalist.

More than a decade before William and Harry, 34, were born, Charles gave a speech about the pollution dangers of the modern world’s “throwaway plastic” society.

He was determined to make his sons “live the way he

So while their late mom, Princess Diana, would take them to glamorous spots like the Caribbean or French Riviera for vacations, Charles insisted the boys learn to care about their environment during holidays.

The boys were even taunted by classmates for being neat freaks.

“He just let us learn from him,” says Harry, “to the point where I used to get teased at school for just picking up rubbish.”

Of course Charles has also been mocked for his bizarre environmental beliefs — like talking to plants.

His teachings about the sins of littering have sunk in — at least for Harry.

“I didn’t consciously go out looking for it but we’d go out for walks anywhere, if you see something and it stands out, you pick it up,” says

Harry.

“I’ve literally done this because I am programmed to do it because my father did it. We should all be doing it.”

But big brother William privately trashes his kooky father.

Palace sources say William complains stuffy Charles “has no idea what a boy wants, doesn’t grasp the notion of fun and is a terrible father.”
