CHER RAVAGED BY VIRUS RELAPSE
Experimental treatments FAIL
CHER’S joy over her hit new Mamma Mia! has turned to heartbreak and terror as her savage viral condition has returned with a vengeance after experimental treatments in Germany, sources say.
Now friends fear the 72-yearold rock diva, who is in red-hot demand after her movie comeback, may be too sick to fulfill her jam-packed schedule that runs through next May, including her Las Vegas shows and Here We Go Again tour to promote her Dancing Queen album.
“She’s struggling every day to find the strength to carry on,” confides an insider. “She’s in the grips of the devastating Epstein-Barr virus and it’s difficult to get out of bed sometimes.”
As GLOBE previously reported, Cher thought she’d licked the disease after undergoing controversial Regenokine blood replacement therapy, receiving 12-pint transfusions at a clinic in Germany’s Black Forest, insiders say.
Immediately following the treatments, the Turn Back Time singer’s “recovery and comeback have been nothing short of miraculous,” reported a source.
“It’s as if she’s literally come back from the dead.”
The diva also endured electroencephalography (EEG), wearing a neuro-headset that monitors brain waves and the body.
Cher was first clobbered by Epstein-Barr in the 1980s, leaving her bedridden and depressed for months and reportedly ravaging her heart and kidneys.
“You never lose it — and it really takes the life out of you,” the star says.
Now, a source tells GLOBE, “She’s being very brave and putting on a stoic front to her fans and backup troupe. She doesn’t want to let them down. Everyone’s just praying for a miracle!”
