HORROR movie greats PETER LORRE, VINCENT PRICE, BORIS KARLOFF and BASIL RATHBONE (clockwise from top) share a lighthearted moment between takes for the 1963 farce The Comedy of Terrors

— a box office flop slammed as a “musty, rusty bag of tricks” by one cranky critic. Though screenwriter Richard Matheson initially wanted to pen a sequel featuring the foursome, the follow-up was scrapped after the original went out with a whimper and 59-year-old Lorre suffered a fatal stroke in 1964.
