EMILY BLUNT’S reinvention of one of Hollywood’s most famous nannies in Mary Poppins Returns has been labeled as delightful in every way by many critics. But the British-born actress admits she was

“shocked” to be offered the role of the title character in the sequel to

1964’s Mary Poppins. Here are ten things you don’t know about the 35-year-old star.

1 Acting helped her overcome a childhood speech impediment. “It was so freeing that my stuttering stopped when I was onstage. It was really a miracle,” Emily says. 2 She first saw Jaws at ten years old and calls it her all-time favorite movie.

3 Emily was 3 straight arrow as a kid and admits, “I’d love to be exciting and say that I was the rebel, but sadly I wasn’t.”

4 She was offered a record contract while still in high school but turned it down because “I felt I wouldn’t be taken seriously as an actress if I was up on a stage bumping and grinding.”

5 The actress plays the cello and put her musical skills on display in 2004’s My Summer of Love.

6 She had a three-year relationship with crooner Michael Bublé, whose song Everything was written about her. 7 In 2010, she wed The Office actor John Krasinski — her co-star in the 2018 thriller A Quiet Place — at pal George Clooney’s place on Italy’s Lake Como.

8 Stanley Tucci was her costar in 2006’s

The Devil

Wears Prada and married her sister in

2012 after meeting her at

Emily’s wedding.

9 She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2015 — but took dual citizenship to maintain her British ties.

10 She hates wearing gloves and says, “I don’t know why, but I find them repulsive. I’d scream if my mother tried to make me wear them as childit must be a phobia

She’s crazy about the ‘70s hit Jaws!
