Newlyweds make orphan, 2, part of their family
ON THE heels of their quickie Nevada wedding, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are wasting no time starting their own family by adopting a little girl, insiders say.
The 49-year-old platinum blond mom-of-three and sixfoot-five country hunk have fallen head over heels over a two-year-old orphan girl, pals dish.
“They are so excited and have begun the private adoption process,” spills an insider. “They plan on making her a permanent part of their family after the new year. They can’t wait to bring her home!” Gwen has even gotten an OK from her sons — Kingsto cheating musician Gavin Rossdale, the insider says.
“Gwen’s three boys are overjoyed by the idea of a kid sister, and both Gwen and Blake are breathing a sigh of relief,” dishes the source. “They wouldn’t have done it without their approval. So now they’re hurrying to making this adoption final.”
The lovebirds, who met when Gwen joined Blake as a coach on TV’s The Voice, “had been trying to have a baby of their own,” snitches the insider. "But after three IVFs, Gwen really doesn't want to put her body through that again. She was considering using a surrogate but changed her mind.”
As GLOBE previously scooped everyone, Blake, who is divorced from country babe Miranda Lambert, “whisked” Gwen to Reno in October, where they reportedly “snatched up a marriage license and got hitched by a preacher in the privacy of their hotel room,” says an insider.
“It was the way they wanted it — a marriage ceremony just for the two of them.”
But Gwen wanted to cement their love with a baby.
“They went through a rough patch recently when Blake started cooling on the idea, saying why fix something that ain’t broken?” adds the insider.
“But they worked things out and decided that adoption was the best way to go.
“Now they’re fixing up a room for the little girl they want to adopt and getting everything ready for their new baby girl.”
