Pregnant newlywed begs idol for help as fairy tale explodes
PREGNANT and detested by her royal in-laws, Prince Harry’s pushy American bride, Meghan, is desperately begging for help from her idol — Michelle Obama!
The diva duchess sneaked out of Kensington Palace — leaving her protection squad fuming — for a secret meeting with the former first lady during Michelle’s Dec. 3 stop in Britain to promote her best-selling book, Becoming.
Now, Meghan’s making clandestine midnight phone calls to her “second mother Michelle,” a high-level royal aide tells GLOBE exclusively, though the palace officially denies any relationship and talk there’s trouble in Britain’s ruling family.
“Meghan feels the world has turned against her, and she poured her heart out to Mrs. Obama,” says the aide.
“She thought marrying her Prince Charming was the start of a real-life fairy tale, but it’s become a nightmare.
“She says she can’t do anything right in the eyes of her new royal family.
“Frankly, she feels trapped! She was so distraught, she told confidantes she was ready to walk out! But thankfully, Michelle came to the rescue.”
Hugging the tearful Duchess of Sussex tightly, Michelle told her, “Meghan, you WILL get through this!”
Although Michelle, 54, confessed she was so overwhelmed by her role as first lady that she hid in the White House for the first few months, she told Meghan, “Give yourself a break!
“Maybe you took on too much, too soon, but it’s not too late to put the brakes on and regroup.”
Since marrying Harry in May, life has been a whirlwind for Meghan, 37. She’s endured royal tours, given speeches, helped write a cookbook and will be a first-time mom before their first anniversary!
She also cut ties with her own family — except her mom, Doria Ragland — after their scandalous behavior. Her father, Thomas Markle, posed for embarrassing photos and revealed details of talks with Harry — a royal no-no — then publicly blasted Meghan, saying she’s “always been demanding” and is “good at

Meanwhile, estranged halfsister Samantha bad-mouthed her, and half-brother Thomas asked Queen Elizabeth to make sure Meghan didn’t end up dead like Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who was killed by her ex-hubby, Prince Charles!
Michelle told Meghan to ignore her shocking relatives — that’s what she did! — and focus on what’s most important, says the royal insider.
“You’ve got the best excuse to drop out for a while — your new baby!” the aide says Michelle advised.
Meghan’s first months as duchess haven’t gone well. She’s flouted royal rules, made outrageous demands on staff — two assistants quit — and has been branded a brash Hollywood brat by her in-laws!
“She also made an enemy of William’s wife, Kate, and their secret catfight is ripping their husbands apart,” dishes the insider.
It was Harry, 34, who urged Meghan to talk to mom-of-two Michelle.
“He has a close friendship with President [Barack] Obama and his wife,” says the insider.
“He told Meghan, ‘If anyone can help you survive life in this goldfish bowl, it’s Michelle.’ ”
And the former first lady came through — in person and by phone!
“Meghan is getting advice on mothering, marriage and, in time, stepping out of her husband’s shadow, in late-night tête-à-têtes,” says the insider.
“The women have formed a tight bond. As Michelle told Meghan, ‘Been there, done that! Call me anytime.’ ”
