Worker stares death in face to protect purse

Globe - - TRUE CRIME -

ATERRIFIED office worker battled with a cowardly robber who stuck a gun in her face as she fought to hang onto her purse during a brazen heist.

Her valiant struggle was caught on security cameras at Ken Marble Inc., an importer of cosmetics and toiletries near the Navy Yard in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Waving a silver pistol and bellowing blood-chilling threats, the thug burst into the employee’s work cubical and grabbed at the purse.

Despite her terror, she bravely fought to hang onto her bag, but the burly, sixfoot mid-20s hoodlum was too strong and ripped it from her grip.

As he turned, she lunged after him, but he turned and pointed the revolver at the lionhearted lady, forcing her to shrink back.

The snarling thug then flashed his pistol and fled with her bag, which contained her iPhone and $800.

The gutsy gal’s son says she was in shock from the horrifying incident, but calmed down after talking to cops.

“She’s OK,” her son reveals. “It was kind of a surreal experience. It’s weird that something like that would happen.”

The woman and witnesses describe the crook as about 25 years old and weighting 200 pounds. Cops say the Dec. 16 robbery was the 92nd in that area for the year so far.

The shaken woman was recovering from the scare, but was unsure if she wanted to go back to work until her attacker is captured.

“Any person in that situation would have those nerves,” the son says. “Of course you’d want the bad guy to get caught.”

The crook, who hasn’t been arrested yet, held up Ken Marble Inc., in Brooklyn, N.Y.
