NEW BREAKDOWN FEARS FOR BRITNEY
Cancels Vegas shows as dad fights for life
TROUBLED Britney Spears may be headed for a new mental meltdown after her father — who controlled every aspect of her life — cheated death when his colon ruptured and was put out of commission, insiders say.
The Toxic songbird, 37, shockingly declared she’s going on an “indefinite work hiatus” and shelved her Vegas show Britney: Domination on Jan. 3 after her father, Jamie,
66, was rushed to the hospital in a desperate fight for life.
Now, a source worries, “This could put her right back on the path to a breakdown. Britney was jolted after her dad almost died. Now, she’ll ride off the rails without his supervision!”
Jamie has been guiding Britney since she went over the edge in 2007, shaving her head bald, attacking a photog with an umbrella and running in and out of rehab.
In January 2008, cops hauled her out of her house, where she was refusing to allow her sons to leave, and tossed her in the loony bin for an involuntary lockdown.
She was found to be under the influence of drugs and lost custody of her boys, Sean, now 13, and Jayden, 12, to ex-hubby Kevin Federline.
Her dad and attorney Andrew Wallet were appointed co-conservators and have watched over her and her fortune ever since.
Wallet recently asked for a pay hike to $426,000 a year to keep Britney sober by preventing “hundreds of people” from giving her “illegal substances.” He warned the star still had potentially serious issues during her Vegas residency.
“As long as she stays on a regimented schedule — like doing her shows every night — she’s fine,” notes the source.
“Now that she’s not doing the show, Britney could go over the edge from worrying about her father!”
