Contact lenses can leave you blind
SLEEPING or napping in contact lenses can trigger serious infections and other eye problems that threaten sight, warns the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to a CDC report, a young girl who slept in her lenses suffered an ulcer that permanently scarred her cornea. A man who left his lenses in for two weeks straight got a punctured cornea and an infection that required a transplant.
The report warns sleeping with lenses in is common — and risky — for kids and teens.
