ROBERT REDFORD'S FINAL CURTAIN CALL!
Fears movie legend, 82, has just MONTHS TO LIVE
HEARTTHROB Robert Redford has just nine months to live, worried pals fear after the 82-yearold film icon has called it quits on his acting career and running his famed Sundance Film Festival!
“I think Bob is looking at the end of his life and he’s tying up loose ends,” says a source who’s known the acting and directing legend for years.
“That’s why he’s retiring.” The Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid star has appeared so weak and fatigued insiders believe he’s being ravaged by a lethal relapse of childhood polio!
Redford was about 11 years old when he was struck down by polio. It took weeks before he could walk again.
Sources say The Sting sensation now seems feeble and drained, which are symptoms of post-polio syndrome (PPS). It hits about 80 percent of all people who survived the killer virus.
“PPS happens to virtually everyone who’s had polio,” notes Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who has not treated the Oscarwinning actor.
Polio kills nerves linked to muscle fibers, forcing the surviving tissue to work overtime to keep the muscles functioning.
“But as decades go by, those nerves collapse and you get PPS symptoms, like decreased strength, breathing and swallowing difficulties, muscle and joint pain, and fatigue,” adds Mirkin.
Redford’s spokesman insists “there is absolutely no truth” to reports the actor is ailing. But sources say The Great Gatsby legend plans to spill all on his personal experiences — and famous co-stars — before he dies.
“After years of keeping quiet, he’s ready to get it out there. He wants to put the past to rest, so he’s writing his memoir,” dishes an insider.
The Natural stud will reveal the emotional scars left by his difficult childhood, his mother’s death giving birth to stillborn twins and losing his first-born son, Scott, at ten weeks to “cot death,” friends say.
Redford also wants to set the record straight about his leading ladies Natalie Wood and Jane Fonda, along with the other women in his life.
The Ordinary People director is also organizing his
assets, selling off property and tweaking his will as the final curtain approaches, according to insiders.
Redford has confirmed he’s making good on his 2018 announcement that The Old Man & The Gun will be his last screen role.
“Never say never, but I pretty well concluded that this would be it for me in terms of acting, and I’ll move towards retirement after this ’cause I’ve been doing it since I was 21,” he said.
“I thought, Well, that’s enough. And why not go out with something that’s very upbeat and positive?”
