INSIDE THE MIND OF A MONSTER!

What drove Ted Bundy to slaughter 50 women

-

BLOODTHIRSTY serial killer Ted Bundy was haunted by his own very real inadequacies — and a twisted fear of failure drove the madman to butcher possibly 50 or more innocent victims and collect gruesome trophies made of body parts, experts reveal.

Now in a bombshell exclusive, crime author and Bundy expert Kevin M. Sullivan takes GLOBE readers inside the mind of the savage killer, who brazenly murdered a pair of coeds at their sorority house while running from cops and ultimately fried in Florida’s electric chair at age 42 on Jan. 24, 1989.

The monster, whose trail of murder throughout the ’70s snaked from Washington state through Utah, Colorado and Florida, was as handsome as a male model and a charismatic smooth talker, who often faked “an upperclass English accent” because it “made him feel superior,” reveals Sullivan, author of The Trail of Ted Bundy: Digging Up the Untold Stories.

Bundy’s favorite tactic was pretending to be injured by keeping an arm in a sling as he targeted young beauties in public places. Once he gained their trust, the beast would whisk the women to a remote area for sex — and then beat their brains out!

Sullivan says he was “completely unpredictable” and shockingly brazen, noting: “The methods by which he would abduct his victims, as well as his almost total lack of fear of the authorities or society, made him an exceedingly dangerous predator, who often would have sex with victims after death.”

Bundy bragged to FBI agent Bill Hagmaier he kept the heads of four gals in his room at a Seattle boarding house! He also carried a kidnapping-and-kill kit in his Volkswagen,

which contained a ski mask, crowbar, ice pick and handcuffs. But for all his bravado, the fiend “had an image problem,” says Sullivan.

His habit of signing his first name with a lower case “t” is a sign of insecurity, says the author. But the college grad was bright enough to get accepted at a Utah law school — and even acted as his own attorney at his Florida murder trial, which resulted in a death sentence.

In the hours before he met justice in Ole Sparky, witnesses say the ghoul lost his swagger and appeared remorseful. Bundy stared straight ahead as he was strapped in the electric chair, obviously terrified, and went quietly to his end as 2,000 volts shot through his body and cooked his evil brain!
