Croc Hunter’s widow & daughter marrying their men in romantic double ring ceremony
CRIKEY! CROCODILE Hunter Steve Irwin’s beloved daughter Bindi is marrying her American boyfriend — and her mom, Terri, is getting in on the act by tying the knot with squeeze Russell Crowe in a double-barrel delight, sources tell GLOBE!
Although plans for the late February nuptials at the family’s Australia Zoo are still being developed, insiders say Bindi, Steve’s widow Terri and his pal Russell are intent on using the ceremony to honor the memory of the popular star, who was killed by a giant stingray in 2006 while filming a TV episode off Australia’s coast.
Bindi will pay tribute to her dad by wearing an emerald green dress while exchanging vows with Florida-born wakeboarder Chandler Powell, 22!
“Steve loved the color green because it reminded him of wildlife and the crocodiles,” dishes an insider.
“It makes sense that Bindi would choose it for her wedding day to pay tribute to him.”
Bindi, 20, started dating Chandler in 2013 and he’s been living at the zoo with his brideto-be, her brother Robert, 15, and her mom.
He and his parents celebrated the New Year with the Irwins — and Chandler’s dad shared a snapshot of the two families dressed to the nines.
“The word is Chandler proposed at the zoo over Christmas as the sun set,” dishes the insider. “It was incredibly romantic!
“Bindi grew up dreaming about having her wedding at the zoo!”
While a spokesman for the family insists no nuptials are in the works, insiders say Bindi is helping her mom plan her half of the wedding to Gladiator stud Crowe!
Terri and Russell, who are both 54, have been friends for years. The Oscar winner, who recently ended his marriage to actress Danielle Spencer, has been a father figure to buddy Steve’s kids since the fatal tragedy, pals say.
“Now Terri and Bindi are set on making the affair a tribute to the beloved Crocodile Hunter,” spills a source. “They’re planning a safari-themed ceremony in late February at the zoo, complete with giraffe-emblazoned invites,
a cake tower with wild animal décor and pictures of Steve as the Crocodile Hunter tucked into the table centerpieces.
“They want the ceremony to be held in a beautiful, partially shaded spot where people can enjoy the event and the animals.”
The guest list will likely be bursting with celebrity Aussies, including Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky, Chris’ brother Liam and his bride Miley Cyrus, plus the famed Crocodile Dundee Paul Hogan, according to insiders.
“Terri is writing vows that will acknowledge Steve. There won’t be a dry eye around,” adds the source.
“Both she and Bindi feel strongly Steve would be delighted in seeing them moving forward. They’re sure he would want them to lead happy, fulfilled lives — and this is the beginning of a fabulous future for the entire family.”
