SOAP legend Susan Lucci says she feels “lucky to be alive” after emergency surgery kept her heart from exploding!
The former All My Children actress — who starred as Erica Kane for 41 years on the daytime drama — says she experienced a tightness in her chest on two separate occasions before a frightening incident late last year.
The 72-year-old fitness fanatic recounts feeling breathless and “like an elephant was pressing down” on her chest while shopping.
A quick-thinking boutique manager then drove her to a hospital, where docs discovered two nearly blocked arteries that had to be treated with surgical stents.
“I was shocked,” says Lucci.
“Had she gone home, that 90 percent blockage could have become 100 percent,” says her cardiologist Dr. Holly Andersen. “She could have suffered a significant heart attack — or even sudden death.”
