Murderous mom: ‘I could not ask for better children’
AGEORGIA mom gushed over her two adult kids on social media — saying, “I could not ask for better children” — and then gunned them down in cold blood before killing herself, police say.
Authorities say they have no idea why Marsha Edwards — the ex-wife of a prominent Atlanta physician and politician — shot and killed the couple’s daughter, Erin, 20, and son, Christopher, 24.
Marsha, 58, posted her eerie message on Instagram on Aug. 21 — the same day all three were found dead in the family’s townhouse.
Offering no hint of the bloody tragedy to come, the evil mom displayed a smiling selfie and wrote: “I’ve had the best summer, first with Chris in Miami, and Erin in Italy. I could not ask for better children.”
A shocked cop discovered the grisly murder scene after Marsha’s ex, Dr. Christopher Edwards, became worried about his son’s whereabouts and asked police to check the family home.
Police say Christopher and Erin died in a hail of bullets, and Marsha died from an
apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Erin had just completed a summer internship on the digital team at NBC in New York City and attended Boston University. Her mother had shared snaps on Instagram of the two in Florence, Italy, at the Leaning Tower of Pisa and at a vineyard in Tuscany.
Christopher worked as the digital content manager for the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Film and Entertainment.
The Edwards family was well known in the Atlanta community: Marsha founded a medical equipment supply company, and her ex-husband is an orthopedic surgeon and chairman of Atlanta’s housing authority.
“For something like this to happen, it’s unbelievable,” says neighbor Talia Cartall. “We didn’t hear anything. There was no sign of violence or anything.”
At a standing-room-only memorial service, Marsha’s grieving niece Kamil Finister expressed her disbelief: “This family was the embodiment of love.”
In a statement, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said: “Chris and Erin were beautiful, vibrant and brilliant young adults.
“May the peace of God … be with the Edwards family and all who had the honor to have known them.”
