MIRACLE BRAIN OP RESTORES RUSH’S HEARING!

Docs drill through deaf radio icon’s skull

STONE-DEAF radio talk show icon Rush Limbaugh can only hear by using two groundbreaking devices that have been placed inside his brain!

“He has had cochlear implants,” says clinical audiology professor Jackie L. Clark of the University of Texas at Dallas, who has not treated Rush. “Each requires a skilled surgeon to drill a hole in [his] skull and insert an electrode inside!”

According to experts, Rush’s deafness may have been caused by abuse of prescription drugs.

But that was banished to the past when the conservative pundit, 68, underwent two delicate surgeries to restore his hearing.

In December 2001, the first implant brought back function to his left ear. He repeated the procedure on his right ear in 2014.

“A cochlear implant is different from a hearing aid, which simply amplifies sound,” says Dr. Clark.

It consists of an external portion that sits behind the ear and another that is surgically placed under the skin in the skull.

A microphone picks up noises, a processor arranges them and a transmitter then converts them into electrical impulses that the brain can understand.

But it’s not like simply putting on headphones.

“It requires a patient to relearn how to hear,” says Dr. Clark.

Limbaugh says that what he now hears is like listening to “scratchy, static AM radio.”
