Anson Williams’ marriage explodes
HAPPY days may be numbered for Happy Days star Anson Williams — who’s slapped his
GLOBE has learned Anson, 70, and Jackie, his wife of more than 30 years, were at each other’s throats and leading separate lives before the split.
“Despite best efforts to work things out or make allowances, and as difficult as it is, sometimes you just have to do what’s best for everyone,” Anson — who played Potsie Weber on the beloved sitcom — tells GLOBE.
According to legal papers obtained by GLOBE, he filed for divorce in California Superior Court on Sept. 11, citing irreconcilable differences.
The couple share four daughters and Anson asked for joint legal and physical custody of their three minor children: Olivia Jean, 17, Gabriella Rose, 17, and Stella Rayne, 12.
“It had been a marriage in name only for a while now,” tattles an insider.
“Anson and Jackie have been mostly living apart. He was trying to work things out for the sake of the kids. “Olivia and Gabriella will be going off to college soon but the youngest one, Stella, will remain at home for a while.
“Anson just wants to do what’s best for their children!”
The actor also has a daughter with ex-wife actress Lorrie Mahaffey, who played his girlfriend on the show.
“Happy Days will always be a part of my life,” Anson tells GLOBE.
“I’ve stayed in touch with almost everyone from the cast.
“We’ve been through thick and thin together. It’s like we’re a family!”
