KATE PREGNANT –WITH TWINS!

William’s delighted but consumed by fear he could lose wife

-

PRINCE WILLIAM and glowing wife Kate hid a shocking secret during their official state visit to Pakistan last month — the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with the first royal twins in almost 600 years!

“William and Kate are stunned!” a high-level palace source tells GLOBE in a blockbuster exclusive.

“They’d learned Kate was expecting a few weeks ago and told only the queen, intending to keep the news under wraps until later in the year.

“But a routine ultrasound shortly before they flew out on the five-day trip revealed not one but two heartbeats! They couldn’t believe it!”

The happy news, however, was tinged with fear.

“William hugged Kate tightly as they tried to process the news, but behind his joy, he’s terrified this pregnancy could cost him his wife!” spills the source.

“She has a history of lifethreatening problem pregnancies that are worse than anyone knows!”

The 37-year-old duchess cheated death to give birth to Prince George, 6, Princess

Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 18 months, the insider shockingly reveals.

“Her blood pressure spiked and became dangerously erratic weeks before she went into labor,” the spywitness continues.

“She was ordered to bed and dropped out of sight for weeks to save their lives.

“She also suffered life

threatening extreme morning sickness — hyperemesis gravidarum — during all of her pregnancies,” the snitch adds.

William’s immediate reaction to the double bombshell was to call off the overseas tour, says the royal source.

“He told Kate they couldn’t risk anything happening while they were away from her regular doctors. But Kate bravely insisted they go ahead!

“While she looked as poised as ever during the trip, hiding her fledgling baby bump under kaftans and outfits that royal seamstresses let out, William was a nervous wreck and couldn’t wait to get home!”

The Cambridges, who wed in 2011, are set to make royal history with their impending arrivals!

Though double births run in both families — William, 37, has identical twin cousins on mom Princess Diana’s side, and Kate’s paternal grandmother was a twin — there hasn’t been a royal-blooded duo in nearly 600 years!

The last top-drawer twins were born in 1430 when Scottish queen Joan Beaufort welcomed sons Alexander — who died in infancy — and James, who became king at age six!

Although the modern royals don’t yet know the gender of the new twosome, they’re praying one will be a sister for Charlotte.

“That was the only reason William agreed to try for baby No. 4,” dishes the insider, who says the duchess was determined to go for more.

“Kate became very broody after Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan, gave birth to their son, Archie, in May, while Prince William insisted three kids were enough.

“But Kate used Charlotte as her ace card — and he relented,” adds the tattletale.

“But as he faces the reality of five children, William’s worried sick about Kate. It’s going to be a long, anxious road until next spring.”
