COUNTRY spitfire Miranda Lambert is desperate to have a baby — in a last-ditch bid to save her marriage to a New York City cop, according to friends!
The driven diva, 36, tied the knot with 28-year-old Brendan McLoughlin just 10 months ago after a 12-week romance, but insiders say he’s grown tired of her domineering ways and may be headed for the exit.
At the root of the problem is Miranda’s laser focus on her career — even though she plunked down $2 million on a swanky Big Apple love nest, she demanded her henpecked hubby take an indefinite leave of absence from the force to shadow her on a long tour, sources dish.
It “feels, for him, like he’s a kept man,” says a pal.
Despite her headstrong ways, Miranda knows Brendan is unhappy and believes getting pregnant and starting a family would
be the glue that holds their marriage together,” adds the source.
“She feels she needs to put down roots with Brendan or their marriage is doomed to fail.”
But the situation is more complicated than an elaborate country ballad — just before he hooked up with the Smokin’ and Drinkin’ songbird, Brendan knocked up attorney Kaihla Rettinger — while he was engaged to soccer player Jackie Bruno! — and now has a one-year-old son, Landon.
“He’s trying to be a good, present dad to his son. But he’s either back at Miranda’s home in Nashville or on the road with her,” says another friend.
“And Brendan knows if he and Miranda have a child, they aren’t going to be raising it in New York. It will be away from the child he already has.”
Miranda’s determination comes in part because of the bad taste left in her mouth from her bitter 2015 divorce with superstar Blake Shelton.
“Miranda isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet,” says the pal. “And she believes having a baby might just turn them around as a couple.”
