PORTIA GOES APE OVER ELLEN’S GORILLA OBSESSION!
TV TALK queen bee Ellen DeGeneres is pouring her time and fortune into saving endangered gorillas — and it’s driving wife Portia de Rossi bananas!
Blond actress/model Portia, 46, has nothing against the big apes but thinks Ellen, 61, has become overobsessed with the project — especially since she has been pushing to adopt a baby gorilla!
“It’s all Ellen wants to talk about when she gets home and Portia’s had enough,” spills an insider. “Portia’s sick of hearing her go on and on about them.
“Ellen’s donated millions to animal causes and this is her passion and legacy,” adds the source.
“But Portia doesn’t share Ellen’s love for wild animals and the cash-hungry charities that try to protect them.
“Portia would like Ellen to show more attention to her — her wife!”
That’s not likely if the gabby comic has her way and adopts a baby gorilla to raise at their California spread.
“Ellen already sponsors a large number of apes, but now she’s talking about adopting a baby gorilla orphan — if she can get through the red tape.
“Portia is putting her foot down, saying they have enough animals to care for and their backyard isn’t big enough.”
While Portia’s miffed, friends of the couple believe she has herself to blame for gifting the gabfest star her own wild animal fund a year ago.
The money financed the Ellen DeGeneres Campus in Africa to carry on the work of murdered conservationist Dian Fossey, played by Sigourney Weaver in one of Ellen’s favorite movies, Gorillas in the Mist.
“Ellen devotes much of her free time talking long-distance to the scientists working to make a difference at her new Rwanda campus,” reveals the insider.
But fed-up Portia’s just about had it.
“Portia says if Ellen makes her watch Gorillas in the Mist one more time she’s going to puke,” adds the insider.
And now TV talker wants to adopt one of the baby critters!
