Depp’s ditching America for new life in Russia
CASH-STRAPPED from a distressing tangle of ugly legal battles, Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp is fed up with America and set to flee for a new life overseas, insiders say.
“He’s feeling totally cursed right now, like everywhere he goes there’s a hundred-grand bill to pay and nothing’s sustainable unless he sells another property,” an insider spills.
“Johnny’s concluded he’s just not cut out for life in America anymore and it makes a heap of sense to head to somewhere like Russia or another part of Europe, where he can get away from his money troubles and make a brand-new start.”
As GLOBE previously reported, the 56-year-old Sleepy Hollow star’s vicious battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, 33, has been sapping his bank balance, once estimated at $650 million! But now insiders believe he’s lost nearly twothirds of his net worth.
Since his nasty two-year marriage to Heard hit the skids in 2017, the feuding couple have been tossing ugly insults and shameful accusations at each other in the courts. Aquaman babe Amber, a bisexual who was shacked up with a sexy female artist before Johnny, accused the hunk of being a violent drunk who physically and emotionally abused her during their marriage.
Meanwhile, Johnny has sued her for slander, claiming she was the violent abuser who threw a bottle at him that smashed and cut off a tip of his finger during one brawl.
Last month, the scandalplagued star settled a $350,000 claim for unpaid legal fees with his former lawyers while getting a $10 million settlement on a legal malpractice lawsuit in late October, sources say. Disgusted with his legal hassles, Johnny’s looking to follow the example of other celebrity exiles — actor Gerard Depardieu, 70, who abandoned France for Siberia some years ago, and martial arts movie tough guy Steven Seagal, 67, who quit America for Russia.
But Depp may eventually discover the former Soviet
Union is no pirate paradise. He romanced 24-year-old Russian dancer Polina Glen for much of this year before getting to meet her family. Sources say Glen found the pressure of dating a celebrity overwhelming and note Depp was frequently distracted by his legal wars.
“The whole business with Amber has left him a shell emotionally, and he’s utterly fed up and ready to get the hell out of Dodge,” says the source.
