BARBRA FIDDLES WITH WICKED STAR’S LOVE LIFE!
MEDDLING Barbra Streisand played a matchmaker in Hello, Dolly! — and it must have rubbed off because she’s now pestering her singing pal Kristin Chenoweth to get hitched!
The 77-year-old diva has become close pals with Wicked star Kristin, 51, and the pair regularly double-date with Babs’ actor-hubby, James Brolin, 79, and the younger beauty’s guitarist beau, Josh Bryant.
While Kristin’s been crushing on Josh for 18 months, she’s dragging her feet over marriage. But Barbra won’t have it.
“Kristin’s said time and time again that she doesn’t need a ring from boyfriend Josh, but Barbra calls that a bunch of hooey,” tattles an insider.
“She’s trying to show her friend that marriage is a good thing, inviting her and Josh over for cozy double-date dinners. She’s constantly cooing over ‘my husband’ Jim and how marriage made them so much happier and fulfilled.”
The Funny Girl star, who’s got a rep for not taking no for an answer, is even insisting Kristin get married at her Malibu compound where she and James tied the knot 21 years ago.
Glee babe Kristin — who was engaged to actor Marc Kudisch for three years before splitting in 2001 — met Josh, the string-plucker for country band Backroad Anthem, in 2018, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Barbra took a shine to Kristin after the blond songbird did a stunning version of Streisand’s classic tune The Way We Were during a performance on Broadway.
“She looks at Kristin like she’s a younger sister and seems to have it in her head that she needs to make this proposal happen as a top priority,” dishes the source.
“This is classic Barbra behavior. But even by her own nosy standards she’s being way over the top and controlling.
“Babs is extremely pushy. Kristin knows she means well and may go through with it just to shut her up.”
