BIRTH CONTROL PILLS SHRINK YOUR BRAIN!

-

BIRTH control pills shrink a key region of women’s brains! Women who take oral contraceptives daily have a smaller hypothalamus, which is crucial in producing hormones, according to a shocking new study.

That hypothalamus also plays a major role in mood, body temperature, appetite, sex drive and sleep.

In the study, researchers at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City used MRI technology to scan the brains of 50 women.

The hypothalamus in women who took birth control pills was about six percent smaller than those of other females.

Although the researchers say brain function and behavior didn’t change, the smaller brain size was linked to anger

and depression. “We found a dramatic difference in the size of the brain structures between women who were taking oral contraceptives and those who were not,” says the study’s lead author, Dr.

Michael Lipton, a professor of radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The study “should motivate further investigation into the effects of oral contraceptives on brain structure and their potential impact on brain function,” he adds.
