Fears for Elvis' daughter after her son's suicide
LISA MARIE Presley’s future looks grim as sources say her liver problems have roared back — and experts warn Elvis’ only child faces death if the vital organ fails!
An insider tells GLOBE the late King of Rock ’n’ Roll’s 52-year-old daughter has been battling liver ailments and an abdominal muscle tear for some time, forcing her to seek treatment in the days before the heartbreaking July 12 suicide of her son, Ben Keough, 27.
“Lisa had a trip to the hospital before Ben’s death and has been in very bad health,” says a source. “She’s very ill, with serious liver issues.
“Years of drug and alcohol abuse have devastated her body. She appears jaundiced, with yellow skin.”
Adds the insider: “She also has a bad hernia, which makes her look pregnant, and that could be related to liver damage.”
Lisa Marie has also admitted addiction to pain pills, cocaine and booze, but insists she’s been sober for three years.
As GLOBE reported earlier, shocking photos revealed her
stomach looked bloated as if she were six-months pregnant. At the time, medical experts said her distended belly could be a sign of advanced liver failure!
Any damage to the organ from past boozing is irreversible, and she may need a transplant to survive, doctors warn.
Life-span expert Dr. Gabe Mirkin notes that at first, “your liver can heal when you stop taking in alcohol, but eventually your liver cells cannot heal and are replaced by scar tissue that cannot remove toxins from your body.
“So you have to replace your liver to prevent the toxins from accumulating and killing you.”
New York internist Dr. Stuart Fischer adds the worst “complication of alcohol abuse is cirrhosis of the liver.
“Once it’s started, it cannot be reversed. It either ends in a liver transplant — or death!”
The source says Ben, Lisa Marie’s son with first hubby Danny Keough, “was desperately worried about her health” in the months before he killed himself.
She’s currently in court battling fourth ex Michael Lockwood, dad of her 11-year-old twin girls, Finley and Harper.
Lockwood warns the heartbreak of Ben’s death could trigger a “relapse into drug and alcohol dependency,” and is looking to change the terms of their child custody order.
Dr. Fischer grimly warns: “A relapse could be the final nail in Lisa Marie’s coffin.”
