HARDHAT HORROR!
Road repair sweetheart blown away on street
SHOCKING surveillance video caught a New York woman being shot dead — and her boyfriend ramming the shooter with his car!
On the video, construction worker Lizbeth Mass — beloved for her friendly nature and pink hardhat — was sitting by a job site on City Island on April 14 when Jose Everaldo Reyes blasted her six times, cops say.
Moments later, her boyfriend, Dwayne Walker, mowed down Reyes, 67, as he tried to flee on a bike, police report.
The video shows the impact sending Reyes flying onto the pavement and the car — now driverless — rolling onto him as he hangs onto a street sign to pull himself up.
Walker runs back to Reyes, shoves him onto the car’s hood and beats him, police say the video shows.
Lizbeth later died at a medical center.
NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig says Lizbeth was a friendly person who seemed to know everyone.
“She’s described as always a friendly face, always waving ‘hi’ to passersby, has kind words for motorists as they go by,” he says.
Lizbeth befriended Reyes, a local handyman, who often biked by her construction site and sometimes brought her lunch, according to her boyfriend Walker, a 58-year-old hardhat.
But when Lizbeth introduced the two men, Reyes apparently snapped, says her brother Raul Mass.
“When my sister presented her boyfriend to him, Reyes
changed his look,” says Raul.
Reyes took off on his bike and returned with a .44 Smith & Wesson reportedly stolen from a nearby home, Essig claims.
He’s been charged with murder, manslaughter and weapons possession.
Walker is not expected to face charges.
Local resident Gigi Lyons slams the shooting as “unacceptable,” adding: “Who would ever do this to such a nice woman?”
