SCOTT PETERSON: I DIDN’T KILL LACI

Intends to name wife’s REAL killers at new trial to overturn conviction

-

CAGED wife and baby killer Scott Peterson is claiming he’ll reveal explosive new proof identifying the real butchers of his family if he’s granted a retrial for his 2004 murder conviction.

Although he’s won a new trial over his prison sentence, legal eagles for the former fertilizer salesman want to put the entire case before a jury again, arguing they have bombshell new evidence, witnesses — and even names of the real killers — that will exonerate the 48-year-old who was sent to California’s death row in 2005.

“Scott is sitting in a cell and he’s innocent,” insists his lawyer Pat Harris. “From the moment I met him, he was always telling the exact same story.

“It never, ever changed, it never contradicted. It was amazing because every client I’ve ever had, you can almost always pick up contradictions in their stories.”

Even now, Peterson is “confessing all” to other inmates, insisting he’s an innocent man framed by cops bowing to public pressure, sources say.

At his original trial, prosecutors claimed avid fisherman Scott murdered his eight-month-pregnant wife, Laci, 27, on Dec. 24, 2002, and dumped her in San Francisco Bay, where her corpse and the body of their unborn son,

Conner, floated up months later in April.

Scott, then 30 and who was cheating with mistress Amber Frey, had admitted the very same day Laci vanished, he’d taken his small boat from his Modesto home to his favorite fishing hole in the bay — a spot close to where the bodies later washed up.

Scott was given a death sentence, but the state Supreme Court overturned the execution due to errors in the questioning of potential jurors.

Now his lawyers insist

they have witnesses who saw Laci alive after she supposedly disappeared, and believe she was kidnapped by two home invaders!

According to the lawyers:

Diane Jackson saw a home next to the Petersons’ being burglarized on Dec. 24 — the day Laci vanished — and cops later arrested Donald Pearce, then 44, and Steven Todd, 36, for the break-in on Jan. 2.

Police claimed the burglary was not related to Laci’s murder, but corrections officer Lt. Xavier Aponte reported jail visitor Adam Tenbrink told his inmate-brother Shawn “that Laci walked up to Steven Todd while he was burglarizing the house next door and he had verbally threatened her.”

Diana Campos, 65, claims she told cops she saw two men accosting Laci as she walked her golden retriever that morning. “The dog was constantly barking and the [white female adult] had to pull at the dog with the leash,” says a police report dated Dec. 27, three days after Laci had vanished from her home.

Driving school instructor Leora Garcia says she spotted a dog matching the description of Laci’s by itself on a leash while a Dodge truck drove off.

Lawyer Cliff Gardner, a member of Peterson’s new legal team, says trial lawyer Mark Geragos never brought this evidence up at the 2004 trial.

Gardner says, “If Shawn is right about what Steven Todd did — then Scott is innocent. And if Scott didn’t kill her, someone else did.”

However, Scott’s legal team faces a gigantic hurdle even if he gets a new trial at a June hearing. Some of his former jail mates swear he confessed to beating Laci to death in a fit of rage!

Inmate James Soares claimed he and Scott got drunk on moonshine and the murderer admitted: “I killed my wife — I killed the b***h … I just snapped, and I hit her on the head with a club. I hated her. I never wanted to have kids … never. We were arguing and I finally snapped.”

But Peterson now tells another story — insisting he’s innocent and was done wrong.
