TOXIC BRAIN GAS LINKED TO DEMENTIA

Hydrogen sulfide produced by your body KILLS cells!

-

AGIGANTIC scientific breakthrough has linked dementia to a toxic gas in the brain!

The gas hydrogen sulfide, which smells like rotten eggs, is produced in small doses by the brain, parts of the aortic artery, the small intestines and other organs and disrupts the nervous system, researchers say.

Tests on rats found hydrogen sulfide blocks potassium channels from properly regulating electrical activity between brain cells and eventually kills the receptors, according to scientists at Johns Hopkins University and England’s Reading and Leads universities.

“When these channels are blocked from working properly we see overexcitable brain cells, which we believe is leading to nerve cell death,” reports study lead Dr. Mark Dallas of the University of Reading.

“This is an exciting finding as it gives us new insights about the role of hydrogen sulfide in various brain diseases, such as dementia and epilepsy.

“There has been growing interest in the effect of hydrogen sulfide on the brain and this study shows how important the implications of its buildup on proper brain functioning may be.”

While the body produces the gas in small quantities, it naturally exists in crude petroleum, natural gas, volcanic gases, hot springs and groundwater. Previous tests with lab rats link the gas to nerve and brain damage.

The new study suggests finding ways to control the gas naturally made in the body could help prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s and other diseases.

“The implication for potential treatments is particularly exciting because finding drugs that target hydrogen sulfide production in our brains may have a host of benefits for diseases,” adds Dr. Dallas.
