Jane & Lily’s secret 41-year feud with 9 to 5 co-star Dolly
COUNTRY queen Dolly Parton’s hoity-toity 9 to 5 co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin won’t give her the time of day, Hollywood insiders dish!
According to sources, the bad blood dates back to when the three began filming the hit 1980 comedy about fed-up gals who work for an egotistical, lying, sexist boss, played by the late Dabney Coleman.
“To the public, these ladies are as warm and gregarious as their hilarious 9 to 5 characters, but that’s far from the truth,” tattles an insider.
“Jane and Lily are tough, no-nonsense types and Dolly’s glittery charm and bubbly personality has always rubbed them the wrong way. It still does, although they would never admit it publicly.
“They don’t invite her to lunch or send congratulations on her various successes.
“That stings Dolly. After all, she helped make 9 to 5 a hit, and her theme song is played over and over and keeps the movie relevant today.”
In an ironic twist, 75-yearold Dolly is set to make a guest appearance alongside Jane, 83, and 82-year-old Lily in their award-winning Netflix series, Grace and Frankie!
“Dolly’s been trying to get on the show for years and Jane and Lily finally gave in,” spills a source.
“But it’s strictly business and for ratings and publicity. There will be no partying afterwards if Jane and Lily can help it!
“They’re outstanding actresses in their own right, but when Dolly’s around, it’s all about Dolly. She brings her entourage and wardrobe and makes a lot of noise by Jane and Lily’s standards.
“Jane and Lily don’t need that so they do their own socializing without her, which secretly rubs Dolly the wrong way.
“But there’s really nothing Dolly can do about it except shrug and go on with the show!”
