EMBATTLED Britney Spears has her two dogs back on the leash after a concerned housekeeper swiped the pooches — for fear they were at death’s door, spies dish!
An insider close to the perturbed pop star says the staffer “took away Britney’s dogs over fears they were being neglected” and had a vet check them for dangerous levels of dehydration, along with digestive issues resulting from a deadly diet of table scraps!
Brit’s dog sitter — who held onto the hounds after the vet visit and finally returned them to their frantic owner two weeks later — is reportedly still on the pop tart’s payroll, while the housekeeper has gotten the boot, according to sources.
When cops first responded to a dognapping whistle at Britney’s address, the celeb declined to press charges, says Captain Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
But the 39-yearold Toxic hitmaker — who is in a bitter battle with dad Jamie over controlling her life and finances through a long-running court-ordered conservatorship — reportedly believed the housekeeper was in cahoots with her dad and attacked her, sources squeal! Police say they are looking into “a very minor misdemeanor battery” resulting from that squabble, and Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart claims the incident is “nothing more than a he said, she said” situation. Jamie, 69, has complained he’s been cast as a villain when no one knows the half of all he’s done for his daughter.
But he recently confirmed he is “willing to step down” from heading the conservatorship — “when the time is right.”
