Ex-gov charged with sex crime as political dream crashes in flames
DISGRACED former Gov. Andrew Cuomo has become unhinged and is heading for a breakdown after being charged with sexual assault, say political insiders, who warn New York’s former kingpin should be on suicide watch!
The shamed, 63-year-old politico is reeling following shocking criminal charges he groped former aide Brittany Commisso in Albany’s
Executive Mansion in December 2020 — which he denies.
Cuomo faces up to a year in the slammer if convicted, and political consultant Hank Sheinkopf says losing the case on top of his crashed career would be “beyond Cuomo’s comprehension” and leave him in a mental abyss.
Political pundit and author Leon Wagener also predicts a conviction would be “too much to bear” and even lead to greater tragedy.
“The idea that he is the subject of this kind of prosecution after years of hunting down criminals himself is completely unfathomable to him,” Wagener insists.
“When people who operated with no rules for so long see this immense a turnaround in their lives, it brings feelings of depression and even suicide.
“If I were one of his relatives, I would be very concerned about the possibility.” The gruff governor resigned on Aug. 11 amid allegations of sexual harassment and bullying by a slew of gals in a damning report by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Cuomo’s lawyers immediately branded the charges a politically motivated hatchet job since the SAME DAY they were made public James declared her candidacy for governor.
“Law and politics are totally separate and this is a toxic intersection of the two,” says Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi.
“Tish James used her office to attack the governor for her own political benefit and she violated the law in the process!” But Wagener claims Cuomo’s belief James is playing politics, after so many allegations have been leveled at him, allows him to delude himself into thinking it’s a plot against him.
A“It gives him something to hang onto,” a source says. “Does anyone really believe these women are part of some kind of conspiracy?
“He’s simply lashing out and attacking his accusers the way he always has.”
Ironically, the description of Cuomo as a loud, ruthless bully is nothing new.
The son of late New York Gov. Mario Cuomo entered the statehouse in 2011 and made multiple enemies, even within his own Democratic party!
After James’ damning report was released, Democrats Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, who represent New York in the U.S. Senate, called for his resignation.
Former Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch says: “He’s not a nice person.”
Cuomo can even count the politically powerful Kennedy clan among his many enemies,
according to
Wagener.
He was married to Robert
F. Kennedy’s daughter Kerry, now 62, from 1990 to 2005 in a notoriously stormy union that was expected to bring together two political dynasties.
But the marriage imploded amid her allegations of physical and emotional abuse!
“They are his greatest and most potent enemy,” Wagener says. “Ethel Kennedy hasn’t forgotten how he treated her daughter.
“They will call in favors throughout to spur the prosecution and make sure it is as swift and strong as possible.”
The expert adds: “I would compare Cuomo to Libyan dictator Moammar Khadafy, who was killed by his own people.
“[Cuomo] ruled with an iron fist and now his enemies are hunting HIM down with no mercy in mind!”
