TOMMY LASORDA WORTH HIS WEIGHT IN GOLD

-

“I BLEED Dodger blue,” baseball legend Tommy Lasorda boasted years after managing the Los Angeles team to two World Series titles during 19 years at the helm.

Just months before suffering a fatal heart attack at home in Fullerton, Calif., on Jan. 7, the 93-year-old Hall of Famer attended the Dodgers’ Game 6 victory over Tampa Bay clinching their first World Series since his last in 1988.

“It was his dream come true,” says a Dodgers pal.

In all, Tommy spent 71 years with the Dodgers franchise, as a player, scout, manager and front office executive.

But years as a manager made him a baseball heavyweight — literally.

“When we won games, I’d eat to celebrate,” said Tommy, who weighed 260 pounds. “And when we lost, I’d eat!”

On Sept. 20, his wife of 70 years, Jo, passed away at 91.
