SIGNSYOU MAY HAVE CANCER

-

NEARLY a third of patients stricken with pancreatic cancer wait three months before seeking treatment for worrying symptoms — putting them at risk for a deadly diagnosis, according to a recent poll.

Pancreatic Cancer UK says its survey discovered 28 percent of those with the disease did not seek timely aid for ongoing signs of the illness, including back and stomach pain, indigestion, weight loss and jaundice — a yellowing of the eyes or skin.

The charity’s reps explain early detection can lead to life-saving treatment, but four out of five patients are diagnosed when their cancer has progressed to a late stage, which is typically fatal.

Diana Jupp, chief executive of Pancreatic Cancer UK, explains, “It is vital that people are diagnosed as early as possible.”
