Fatties face thyroid cancer

TODAY’S obesity levels may be responsible for thousands of life-threatening thyroid cancers over the next decade, warn researchers in Australia. Dr. Maarit Laaksonen, of Sydney’s University of New South Wales, explains carrying excess flab is currently connected to two in five thyroid cancers in guys and one in ten cases in gals.

“Our findings add evidence to the urgent need to halt and reverse the current global trend in weight gain,” says the biostatistician.
