ABRILLIANT NASA Space Shuttle engineer has been exposed as the kid whose real-life torment inspired the head-spinning terror detailed in the blockbuster movie The Exorcist!

Ronald Edwin Hunkeler — who died in 2020 a month before he turned 86 — spent decades haunted by the eerie events from his teen years that were turned into the 1973 hit horror film starring Ellen Burstyn and Max von Sydow.

In the movie, Linda Blair, now 62, played a possessed child who needed a full-on exorcism to rid her of Satan’s spell.

Hollywood hokum!

Witnesses report Hunkeler, who later patented the Space Shuttle’s heat shield, was possessed by an evil spirit! His body raised welts that spelled out warnings as he spouted obscure Latin phrases!

In 1949, his frantic mom hired exorcists in Cottage City, Md., and St. Louis, Mo.

For decades, the child behind the flick was known only as “Roland Doe” or “Robbie Mannheim.” A circle of Jesuit priests kept the kid’s secret — until now!

Ronald was 14 when he first began to hear strange sounds behind the walls of his bedroom. Soon, objects began flying across the room of their own accord!

Ronald’s mom believed a spiritualist aunt must have opened a door to the demon world when she passed away, and she begged religious leaders to help cleanse her child of demonic influence.

“The family was Lutheran

and they went through all the stages you see in the film: They went to doctors, clinics and finally went back to their own pastor in the Lutheran church, who recommended they see a priest,” the movie’s director, William Friedkin, explained.

The Exorcist was a megahit and spawned a franchise of six supernatural films in total. But the movies’ success made

Hunkeler’s life hell!

He spent all his years deathly afraid people would discover his identity and come batter down his door!

The brainiac tried to keep a low profile, even though he became a NASA engineer and worked on the Apollo missions that put the first astronauts on the moon in 1969!

But a pal reveals even though exorcisms had cast the devil from Hunkeler’s body, he was still trapped in a nightmare.

“On Halloween, we always left the house because he figured someone would come to his residence and know where he lived and never let him have peace,” spills the source. “He had a terrible life from worry!”
