Erectile drug fights Alzheimer’s
A COMMON erectile dysfunction drug made users nearly 70 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease, a new study suggests. Researchers at Cleveland Clinic found sildenafil — the generic name for Viagra — was linked to a significant drop in cases of the dementia-causing condition in an analysis of data from more than 7 million patients.
The scientists say their lab experiments also showed the medication halted harmful Alzheimer’s-related proteins from building up in the brain.
