LAWYER MURDAUGH NAILED IN $8.5M SCAM
ALREADY accused of hiring a hitman to kill him so his son could collect the insurance, junkie South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh is now charged with swindling $8.5 million from clients.
Prosecutors claim the 53-yearold, whose wife and youngest son were mysteriously murdered in June, would collect settlements for clients’ deaths and deposit the money in his account instead of paying the deceased’s relatives.
Murdaugh, who’s been in the slammer on a $7 million bond since October, claims he used the money to pay for his drug addiction and debts.
Attorney Justin Bamberg, who represents some of Murdaugh’s “poor and uneducated” victims, says, “Alex gave them just enough money so they would drop on their knees and say ‘Thank you, Jesus’ and took the rest.”
