NOVELIST Lee Child claims fans griped about tiny Tom Cruise portraying his crimefighting military man Jack Reacher in two thrillers!
Child, 67, insists he’s a fan of Tom’s work. But when the character was recast for the new Amazon series Reacher, the writer says he was happy 6-foot-2 bruiser Alan Ritchson, 37, was tapped to play the hero — instead of the 5-foot-7 Mission: Impossible performer, 59.
In Child’s books, Reacher is described as “extremely tall, extremely broad, longarmed and long-legged,” with “hands the size of dinner plates.”
And Child reasons, “Reacher has got to scare people, and you can do that so much easier with one glance of this huge animal rather than a normalsized actor.”
