EIGHT FOODS YOU SHOULD NEVER EAT!

POOR health may be on the menu if you regularly chow down on these eight foods, according to experts.

1. BACON: According to the World Health Organizati­on, this cured and salted processed meat is in the same cancer-causing category as tobacco and asbestos! And California-based internist Dr. Reyzan Shali says the turkey variety isn’t any better than pigging out on pork!

2. FRIED FOODS: High in fat, salt and calories, these dishes can contribute to cardiovasc­ular disease and obesity.

3. POTATO CHIPS:

“They’re low in nutrition, and high in cheap fats and sodium,” says Dr. Andrea Paul, medical adviser to Illuminate Labs.

4. SUGAR: “Added sugar has essentiall­y zero nutritiona­l value,” explains Paul.

5. HYDROGENAT­ED FATS:

Paul suggests examining the ingredient labels on packaged foods and avoiding items containing trans fats, which have been blamed for clogging arteries.

6. PROCESSED OILS:

Grapeseed, soybean, canola, cottonseed, corn and vegetable oils are exposed to high temperatur­es during production, causing oxidation — which can promote damaging free radicals in the body, says Paloma Health’s dietitian nutritioni­st Arika Hoscheit.

7. REFINED CARBOHYDRA­TES: White bread, rice and pastas — which have been stripped of most of their nutrients and fiber — are generally higher in sugar and can cause weight gain and inflammati­on in the body, warns Angela L. Lago, a dietitian at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

8. PROCESSED MEATS:

Lago points out foods like sausages, hot dogs, deli meats and beef jerky have been linked to coronary heart disorder and says the products “contain chemicals that are not present in fresh meat.”
