BEST GOOD SLEEP SNACKS

-

CHOOSING the right bedtime snacks could help you slim down and get better shut-eye, according to one expert.

Arizona-based sleep science coach Sanchita

Sen says if you hit the sack while hungry, your body may not have sufficient energy to recharge, which can lead to the retention of fat cells.

To promote weight loss, Sen suggests eating foods rich in sleep-promoting melatonin, such as bananas, cherries and tomatoes.

Sen says nutrient-packed nibbles, including peanut butter, nuts, apples and whole wheat bread, can help maintain even blood sugar levels and lead to improved slumber.

But she adds it’s best to eat small portions — just enough to sate your hunger — and nix anything spicy, fatty or fried to keep indigestion, heartburn or acid reflux from wrecking your rest.
