TORMENTED Kelly Clarkson’s bitter divorce from Brandon Blackstock, grueling work schedule and dateless nights have plunged her into an emotional pit of despair, according to pals who are worried for her health.

While the TV queen is usually the life of the party, sources say Kelly is down in the dumps and can’t get excited for her milestone 40th birthday on April 24.

“She’s in no mood to celebrate,” spills an insider. “She’s hit rock bottom because she blames herself for all these problems, which is ridiculous. People try telling her that, but she doesn’t believe them. She can’t sleep, she cries a lot and feels alone.”

Friends and co-workers are especially shocked over the Since U Been Gone singer’s request to legally change her name to Kelly Brianne after building an empire on singing, a talk show and The Voice with her current moniker.

“A lot of people think it’s a mistake for Kelly to change her name because of the hassle it will cause for everyone on her show and on The Voice,” says the snitch. “But she doesn’t like herself too much these days.”

Even though her divorce is finally settled, Kelly’s shelling out about $160,000 a month to her ex, facing a pathetic dating situation and spending lonely nights after putting her two kids to bed, insiders dish.

“She’s been in therapy but it doesn’t seem to be working,” notes the source. “She doesn’t just want a new name, she wants a new life!

“But she’s kidding herself if she thinks that alone will change anything. It’s her attitude she needs to change.”
